The Devotional

Papa “J” says

What does the fish and the worm have that is common to both? Both are “hooked” on man's appetite for food and adventure.

Ever have the feeling of giving up? I know I have! There are those days when the spiritual battle is raging and the white towel of surrender is in your hand. The eleventh-century German king, Henry III grew tired of ruling. He applied to a monastery to spend the rest of his life in quiet contemplation. The prior asked if he, a king, could live out a vow of complete obedience. “I will,” king Henry replied. “Then you are accepted,” replied the monk. “Your first duty is to return to your throne and serve faithfully where God has placed you.” It is not easy to serve, but it is the highest calling of God. The highest position in God's army is under the command of Jesus Christ who first came to serve. Matthew 20:28. He is coming again, but this time He will be Served as King of kings and LORD of lords, don't give up the battle, come and reign with Him! Revelation 22:12-17. You'll be glad you did!

Psalm 8

Psalm 8:1-9 I am reminded of the many religions that focus on idols of every imagination of mankind. All of these man made deities are limited to the fantasies of those who developed them. What is odd, is that these objects sometimes get high enough on the mountain to see the land of promise. But God who's name is great on the earth and who's glory is above the heavens, prevents these idols of worship from crossing over the Jordan.

The gospel of God is not complicated, even babies and infants have an understanding and are no contest to the ordained (established) strength of God. God's enemies know and shutter in fear at this truth, yet they rage on. Don't be like the raging fool who says there is no God in heaven. Consider His heavens the work of His fingers. What is seen is not to be worshiped as gods, but what is seen can bring us to God who ordained it all for us to find Him. Psalm 19:1-6

What is it then that makes us who are created a little lower in ranking than the angels of God be of interest to God? It is our soul, it is a most holy thing. It is most valuable to God. He surrounds us with good things and has given us dominion over it all. Animals, birds of the air, fish in the sea and He has not withheld any good thing from us. Why? Because the name of God is excellent in all the earth! Romans 5:8. Lay aside the distracting religions of the world and seek the “Love of God”.
