A Look at the Book #142

The Devotional

Papa “J” says

What does bitterness of soul look like? A soul becomes bitter when there is a little love and no discipline. Proverbs 17:25

Do you have trouble with the word “saint”? Are you saved and find yourself offended when someone refers to you as saintly, or states plainly that you are a saint? And one more question. Do you prefer to think of yourself as humble instead of saintly? Well, lets take a look at the word “humble”. Humility is never in a position to ask God why, and the humble spirit is always poised to accept what God says. Make no mistake about it: God states clearly in scripture that you are a saint. If you are sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be saints, then guess what; you are saints. To disregard that thought from 1 Corinthians 1:2 and many other Old and New Testament passages that identify the people of God as saints is no humbleness of heart, it is arrogance.

A Look at the Psalms

Psalm 2:7-9 Prophecy runs throughout the Word of God, about one-third of the Bible is prophecy. Now I also know that there are others that teach that only one-fourth of the Bible is prophecy, but it is a point not worth an argument. The reason being is that prophecy is found in the Bible and the amount of it from God's view is more important than for our human view. We are to be students of the Bible not critics.

The writer of this Psalm is not identified, but whoever the person is, they are clearly understanding the gospel. That the decree of Christ's position of Authority is yet future. That the Psalm writer is also looking at the Second Advent of Christ as Messiah and that God will hand to the Messiah all the nations to be His. An inheritance that He shall rule with a rod of Iron.

As saints and partakers of this coming event, we should be looking for our Savior to be coming in this capacity as well. At some point in time we met Jesus Christ in the capacity of His First Advent and while we are alive in Him by the advent of His saving grace, we are now looking for His return to redeem the nations and subject them to His Authority. A day that is coming soon. Even so come LORD Jesus! Revelation 22:6-21.
