A Look at the Book #138
by Jesse Abel
The Devotional
Papa “J” says
The golden image has been worshiped since time began. What boggles my mind is; “Its just an image” Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah knew the Personal Deliverer, do you? Daniel 3:16-18
In 1555, in Oxford, England, Hugh Latimer and Nicholas Ridley were burned at the stake for their biblical views that failed to conform to the ruling of the Roman Catholic church. As the flames consumed their bodies, Latimer called out to Ridley, “Be of good comfort, Master Ridley, and play the man. We shall this day light a candle by the grace of God in England and I trust it shall never be put out!” Nicholas was the younger man, both perished in the flames but their message of faith in God is the Light that delivers us all. What do I mean? The three friends of Daniel and the two men in Oxford, England approached death with the same faith. The faith of Galatians 2:16-20 does not see a difference in death or in life, this faith only sees victory. Philippians 1:21.
A Look at the Psalms
Psalm 1 By now you know that when you see the word “Blessed” the writer is being moved by the Holy Spirit to tell the reader that the joy of the LORD is not singular one time event, but filled a joyful relationship with many joys. In fact, there is so much joy and happiness when walking with the LORD that we can seldom explain the intensity. Maybe that is why people who are not feeling the same joy think we've gone bonkers.
Whereever we are in this world you will find counsels of wicked and ungodly people. One of the best ways to lose your joy of the LORD is to start walking with the wicked. A group of ungodly people seem to know that the joy you are feeling is something they cannot muster up. So they will throw their wicked and sinful imagination right in your face. It is their attack to ruin your day and if you continue walking with them, you will lose your joy.
Ever try to get around a group of people standing in the path your walking, as you approach you see their sin. It may be gossip or any other sin of the tongue, if you stop, stand or participate in that conversation. There goes your joy will keep moving and you will be left behind.
Ever go the doctors office or the barber shop. When you sit and wait to be seen, there always seems to be someone there to steal your joy of the LORD. The scornful person seems to run their mouth like the drill in a dentists hand. You get all tensed up inside and the noise of that boring tool can ruin your day. Such it is with the scorners who are all to willing to watch you lose your joy of the LORD.
